Color and pattern of the male
Head: dark-orange.
Neck: hackle dark-orange, each feather with a more or less distinct black shaft-stripe, runs parallel to the feather-outline, ends in a point near the tip; front of the neck black.
Back, shoulders and wing-arch: glossy rust-red.
Saddle-hackle: dark-orange, each feather with more or less distinct shaft-stripe, absence is not considered a fault.
Tail: steering-feathers black, sickles and by-sickles green-glossy black with a brown lace.
Wings: bow black; green-glossy black wing-bar.
Primary-flights: black with a narrow brown lace on the outer-vane.
Secondary-flights: inner-vane black, outer-vane brown, forming a brown wing-triangle when the wing is closed.
Breast: green-glossy black.
Belly, thighs and rear-part: black.
Down: greyish.
Serious faults
Straw colored or brownish neck-hackle. Grey or peppered shaft-stripes. Light or uneven color on back, shoulders, wings-arch or saddle. White in tail, wing-flights or down. Insufficient or absent green-sheen in the black ornamental feathers.

Serious faults to a lesser degree. A incomplete colored wing-triangle.

Head: dark-orange.
Neck: hackle reddish brown, each feather with a black shaft-stripe; runs parallel to the outline, ends in a point near the tip; front of the neck similar to the breast.
Back, shoulders, bow, wing-coverts and saddle: even hazel-brown, each feather with a fine, even black peppering; as few light-colored veins as possible.
Primary-flights: black-brown with a slightly lighter outer-vane.
Secondary-flights: outer-vane similar to the back, inner-vane black-brown.
Tail: black steering-feathers, except for the upper ones, which like the coverts are similar to the back.
Breast: even warm salmon-brown, transitioning to ash-brown at the thighs.
Belly, thighs and rear-part: ash-brown.
Down: grayish.
Serious faults
Hazel-brown ground-color too light or greyish. Coarse or irregular peppering. Too pale or greyish breast color. Lacing or too much veins on back, shoulders, bow, wing-coverts and saddle feathers. Absence of shaft-stripes.
