Head: rich brilliant-red.

Neck-hackle: rich brillian-red, some black markings on the lower feathers are permitted, referably covered by the overlying feathers and inconspicuous from the outside.

Back, shoulders, wing-coverts, saddle-hackle, front of the neck, breast, flanks, thighs and belly: rich brilliant-red; 

Tail: black main-feathers; sickles deep glossy green-black; coverts mainly green-black but they may become red as they approach the saddle. 

Wings: coverts rich brillant-red, primary-coverts black with red lacing; feathers closest to the body red on the surface, so that the wing, when closed, displays a uniform rich brillant-red.

Primary-flights: inner-web deep-red, outer-web deep-red with a black lace along the vein, fairly broad at the base and very narrow at the tip.

Secondary-flights: inner-web black, outer-web red, the red should extend sufficiently around the tip for a red wing-bay when the wing is closed; the red on the inner-web increases as the secondaries are positioned further inward.

Fluff: dark-red.

Down: red.

Serious faults

Uneven, too light, or lackluster color. Significant differences in color-depth between different feather groups. Shaft-stripes in the neck- and saddle-hackle. Black on the wing-coverts, breast or back. White in any part of the plumage. Greyish-black down color in any part of the plumage. Coppery sheen. Black pattern and/or peppering on the inner-web of the primary-flights. Absence or near absence of pattern in the primary-flights. Strong hairy feathering, fringe on the plumage.

Faults 

Very minor deviations in color and pattern.  Absence of the black lace along the vein on the outer-web of the primary-flights.

Head: glossy deep-red.

Neck-hackle:warm deep-red, the lower feathers with a distinct black tip.

Back, shoulders, wing-coverts, saddle, front of the neck, breast flanks, thighs, belly and fluff: warm deep-red.

Tail: black main-feathers, with some red in the upper feathers permitted, coverts warm deep-red.

Primary-flights: inner- and outer-web deep red, with a black lace along the vein on the outer-web, fairly broad at the base and very narrow at the tip.

Secondary-flights: inner-web black, outer-web red, the red should extend sufficiently around the tip for a red wing-bay when the wing is closed; the red on the inner-web increases as the secondaries are positioned further inward.

Down: red.
