Color male and female

The upper plumage is an even, warm, golden yellow throughout, free of lighter shafts or flour-colored deposits.

The male's neck- and saddle-hackle, back and shoulders, and the female's neck-hackle are a vibrant, warm, golden yellow. Some black in the base of the tail and wing feathers is permitted, provided it is not obtrusively visible from the outside.

The down is slightly lighter; free of other colors.

A harmonious blend of the various parts of the plumage is desirable.

Serious faults

Distinctly different depths of color in parts of the plumage. Markedly different depths of color from the standard color. Black or white in the down. White in the plumage. Much black visible from the outside on the tail and wing feathers.

Faults

Slightly too light down color. Slight deviation from the standard color.
