Color and pattern male

Head: deep red-brown.

Neck: hackle glossy vivid deep red-brown; front of the neck similar to the breast.

Back, shoulders, wing-bows and saddle-hackle: glossy vivid deep red-brown.

Tail: main-feathers black; sickles and coverts green-glossy black with a narrow, sharply defined deep red-brown lacing.

Wing-bars: deep red-brown, feathers with more or less faint black quills on the inner-web.

Primary-flights: outer-web deep red-brown with some black markings to the end, inner-web deep red-brown strongly mixed with black fading towards the edge.

Secondary-flights: outer-web deep red-brown, inner-web deep red-brown strongly mixed with black.

Breast, flanks, thighs and belly: deep red-brown, flanks show some black quills.

Fluff: blackish-grey with brown tinge.

Down: blue-grey.

Serious faults

Significant uneven or too light ground-color. Too dark in shoulders, wing-bows and hackles. Absence, too wide or very irregular lacing of sickles or tail-coverts. Black in breast and belly.

Serious faults to a lesser degree.

Color and pattern female

Head and neck-hackle: red-brown.

Front of the neck and upper-breast: red-brown, slightly rising of the quills in the upper-breast is permitted.

Back, shoulders and wing-coverts: red-brown, each feather finely marked with green-glossy black quills, shaped like grains of wheat, three to five times crosswise on either side of the vein, entirely distinct, touching neither the vein nor the edge of the feather.

Tail: main-feathers red-brown with strong black transverse quills, most prominent in the top two.

Primary-flights: outer-webred-brown mixed with some black; inner-webred-brown strongly mixed with black fading towards the edge.

Secondary-flights: outer-webred-brown with coarse black quills, inner-web red-brown with coarse irregular black quills that turns into more or less longitudinal stripes.

Lower breast, flanks, thighs, belly and fluff: red-brown with some black quills that become stronger towards the bottom.

Down: blue-grey.

Serious faults

Ground-color uneven, far too light or far too dark. Coarse or very irregular quills. Insufficient depth and sharpness of the quills. Quills rising too high on the breast.
