Color and pattern male

Head: glossy black ground color, very narrowly edged with silvery white.

Neck: the large feathers of the hackle are entirely velvety black; the sheen increases towards the back; the smaller feathers, higher in the hackle towards the throat, are also velvety black but with silvery white veining and a very narrow silvery white edge.

Shoulders and back: each feather has a glossy green black triangular center with silvery white barbs; back feathers also have a bright silvery white veining; the back feathers, broad under the hackle, become narrower towards the back and longer towards the lower back.

Saddle: hackle black with silvery white veining and broad silvery white barbs.

Tail: black steering-feathers; sickles glossy green black; greater coverts glossy black, lesser coverts glossy green black with silvery white edge.

Wings: black bow feathers with a narrow silvery-white border; greater coverts silvery-white with a glossy black, spangle-shaped pattern at the tip, forming two black wing bands.

Primary-flights: black.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black; outer vane mostly silvery-white, tip of the feather black; when the wing is closed a wing-triangle is formed.

Breast and front of neck: silvery-white overall.

Belly: slightly darker than the breast.

Rear- part: grayish.

Thighs: similar to the breast.

Down: gray.

Serious faults

Too wide lacing and veining on the neck. Black pattern on the breast, and yellow tinge in the silvery-white feather areas. Absence of pattern on the secondary-flights.

Faults

The above serious faults occur to a lesser extent.

Color and pattern female

Head: black, very narrowly edged with silvery-white.

Neck: hackle velvety black with a narrow, silvery-white edging that increases slightly in width towards the throat; the lower edge of the hackle is almost entirely black.

Shoulders, back, and saddle: very dark gray with a velvety-black sheen, with a narrow silvery-white side lacing and brilliant silvery-white veining; the side lacing narrows towards the saddle.

Tail: black steering-feathers; very dark gray coverts with silvery-white edging and silvery-white veining; dark gray support-feathers with silvery-white veining and silvery-white edging.

Wings: coverts similar to the back feathers; the edging broadens towards the flight feathers.

Primary-flights: black.

Secondary-flights inner vane dark gray; outer vane very dark gray with a narrow, not sharply defined, silvery-white pattern at the edge of the feather, tip of the feather black.

Front of neck, breast, belly, and thighs: silvery-white; the feathers on the sides of the chest, towards the wings and flanks, are very gray with silvery-white edging and silvery-white veining.

Rear-part: light gray.

Down: gray.

Serious faults

Too broad lacing and veining on the neck. Black pattern on the breast, plus yellow tinge in the silvery-white feather areas. Absence of pattern in the secondary-lights. Too little, too narrow, or too broad silvery-white lateral lacing on the back, saddle, tail, and wing-coverts, or too broad silvery-white veining. Too much white in the feather field on the wings.

Faults

The above serious faults occur in minor degrees.
