Color and pattern male

Head: lemon yellow.

Neck, back, and saddle: lemon yellow, each feather ending in an elongated-shaped, glossy green black spangle; spangle is proportional in size to the feather; feathers on the front of the neck similar to those on the breast.

Tail: steering-flights: deep black; sickles and tail coverts glossy green black; smaller tail coverts lemon yellow with elongated spangle.

Wings: shoulders lemon yellow, each feather ending in a slightly elongated, sharply pointed, glossy green black spangle; wing-bar lemon yellow, each feather ending in a large, almost round, glossy green black spangle, forming two distinct bands across the wing.

Primary-flights: inner vane lemon yellow with black intermingled; outer vane lemon yellow.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black; outer vane lemon yellow, fading to black at the tip.

Breast and belly: lemon yellow, each feather ending in a large, almost round, glossy green black spangle.

Thighs: similar to the belly, but the thigh feathering is predominantly black below.

Fluff: dark blue-gray with brown tinge.

Down: blue-gray

Serious faults

Too light or too dark ground color. Too dark or irregular ground color. Too red on shoulders. Spangles that are too heavy, too small, or horseshoe-shaped. Absence or near absence of spangling on the neck- and saddle-hackle.

Wings: coverts lemon yellow, each feather ending in a large, almost round, glossy green-black spangle, forming two distinct bands across the wing.

Primary-flights: inner vane lemon yellow interspersed with black; outer vane lemon yellow.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black; outer vane lemon yellow, fading into black at the tip of the feather.

Breast and belly: lemon yellow, each feather ending in a nearly round, large, glossy green black spangle; spangle is proportional in size to the feather.

Thighs: similar to the belly, but the thigh feathering below is predominantly black.

FLuff: dark blue-gray with black tinge.

Down: blue-gray.

Too dark or uneven ground color. Spangles that are too heavy, too small or horseshoe-shaped. Lack of distinct bands across the wings.
