Color and pattern male

Head and crest: deep lemon yellow with black crescent-spangles at the feather tips.

Beard: dull black interspersed with lemon yellow.

Neck: hackle deep lemon yellow, the black elongated V-shaped spangle a slightly glossy greenish.

Back and saddle-hackle feathers: with a elongated V-shaped spangle at the feather tips.

Tail: steering-feathers, sickles, and by-sickles are lemon yellow with a strong black crescent-spangle at the tip, blending into a narrow lacing along the feather; black feathers interspersed with lemon yellow are permitted.

Wings: shoulders deep lemon yellow, each feather with a slightly glossy greenish black, more or less V-shaped spangle; wing-bar feathers deep lemon yellow, slightly glossy black crescent-spangle, forming one or more distinct bands running transversely across the wings. 

Primary- and secondary-flights: lemon yellow with a black crescent-spangle at the feather tip; some transition from the crescent- spangle to the lacing is permitted.

Front of the neck, breast, body, belly, and thigh feathers: lemon yellow with a black, somewhat glossy, crescent- spangle at the feather tip; the pattern on the body and thighs are somewhat bolder, so that the black is dominant there.

Rear-part: almost entirely dark gray with some lemon-yellow tinge.

Down: blue-gray.

Serious faults

Far too light or very irregular ground color. Gold-colored or excessively red feather parts. Pattern that is too weak or too heavy crescent-spangled.  Absence or near absence of pattern on the neck- and saddle-hackle

Neck-hackle: warm lemon yellow, each feather having a slightly elongated, more or less V-shaped spangle at the tip.

Front of the neck, breast, back, body, belly and thigh feathers: warm lemon yellow with slightly glossy black crescent-spangle at the feather tips; pattern on the body is somewhat stronger, so that the black is dominant there.

Wings: coverts warm lemon yellow, each feather ending in a slightly glossy black V-shaped spangle, forming two distinct black bands across the wing. Primary-flights: inner vane lemon yellow interspersed with black, outer vane lemon yellow.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black, outer vane lemon yellow, blending into a black crescent-spangle at the tip.

Tail: lemon-colored with a black crescent-spangle at the tip, tail coverts lemon-colored ending in a slightly glossy greenish crescent-spangle; black feathers interspersed with lemon are permitted.

Rear-part: dark blue-gray with lemon-colored tinge

Down: blue-gray.

Serious faults

Lemon yellow ground color far too light or completely irregular. Pattern that is too weak or too heavy crescent-spangled.  Lack of distinct crossbands on the wings.
