Isabelpartridge

Color and pattern of the male

Head: isabel-yellow.

Necke: hackle gradually transitions from isabel-yellow to light isabel-yellow from top to bottom; each feather has a lavender shaft-stripe, no stringent requirements are placed on the sharpness of the pattern and the intensity of the shaft-stripe, as far as present it ends in a point near the tip; front of the neck lavender.

Shoulders and back: light isabel-yellow.

Saddle-hackle: isabel-yellow to light isabel-yellow, with more or less distinct lavender shaft-stripe pattern; the absence of hackle pattern is not considered a fault; a slightly deeper shade in the saddle-hackle than in the neck-hackle is permitted, but as much similarity in color depth as possible in both feather-groups is desirable.

Tail: lavender steering-feathers; sickles, by-sickles, and tail-coverts lavender.

Wings: bow and wing-bar lavender.

Primary-flights: lavender with a narrow cream-colored lace along the outer-vane.

Secondary-flights: inner-vane lavender, outer-vane cream-colored, forming a cream-colored wing-triangle when the wing is closed.

Breast: lavender.

Belly, thighs and rear-part: light-lavender.

Down: silvery-lavender.

Serious faults

White in sickles, tail and wing-flights. Excessive isabel color in the breast, belly and thighs. Too light color in the lower portion of the neck-hackle. Too light ground-color, resulting in a lack of contrast with the lavender. Complete absence of shaft- stripe pattern on the neck-hackle.

Faults

Other, minor deviations in color and pattern. Insufficiently sharply defined neck- and saddle-hackle. Incomplete colored wing-triangle.

Color and pattern of the female

Head: isabel-yellow.

Neck: hackle isabel-yellow, each feather with a lavender shaft-stripe; no high demands are placed on the sharpness of the pattern and the intensity of the shaft-stripe; it runs parallel to the edge of the feather and ends in a point near the tip; the isabel-yellow should must contrast well with the lavender throughout; front of the neck light salmon-colored.

Shoulders: isabel-gray with fine, evenly distributed lavender peppering, with as little light-colored veining as possible.

Back and saddle-cushion: similar to the shoulders.

Tail: steering-feathers lavender except for the upper ones, which, like the tail-coverts, are isabel-grey with small lavender spots.

Wings: bow, wing-bar and coverts similar to the shoulders.

Primary-flights: lavender with a narrow isabel-grey outer-vane.

Secondary-flights: outer-vane, similar to the shoulders; inner-vane isabel-grey.

Breast: light salmon-colored, veins of the same color; fading to isabel-grey at the thighs.

Belly, thighs and rear-part: greyish.

Down: silvery-lavender.

Note

A slightly light edging of the back and wing-coverts is permissible but not desirable.

Serious faults

Too light ground-color, resulting in a lack of contrast with the lavender. Complete absence of shaft-stripe pattern. Light veins (clearly lighter than the ground-color). Excessively coarse or clumped peppering.

Faults

Minor deviations in color and pattern. Insufficiently sharply defined neck-hackle. Slightly clumped peppering and light veins on the breast.
