Color and pattern male

Head and hackle: glossy deep black.

Shoulders: deep golden-yellow.

Back: barely patterned, largely hidden by the hackle; lower back deep golden-yellow with some shaft striping.

Saddle-hackle: deep golden yellow with broad shaft striping.

Tail: steering-feathers and sickles glossy-green deep black; coverts glossy-green deep black, at the transition to the saddle hackle, faintly edged or tipped with golden-yellow at the feather tips. 

Wings: deep golden-yellow wing-bar.

Primary-flights: inner-vane black, outer-vane deep golden-yellow.

Secondary-flights: inner-vane black with a narrow deep golden-yellow edge that runs around the feather tip; outer-vane white so that when the wing is closed, it forms a deep golden-yellow wing.

Front of neck, breast, body, thighs, belly and rear-end: deep golden-yellow

Down: light blue-grey to almost black, it should not extend into the solid feather-field.

Serious faults 

Too red on shoulders. Predominantly yellow or grey in the neck-hackle. Almost entirely black in the saddle-hackle. Not entirely black sickles.

Almost absence of neck-hackle color. Black splashes in the body plumage.

Faults 

The above serious faults occur to a lesser extent. Insufficient pattern in the wing-flights.

Color and pattern female

Head: as black as possible, but deep golden-yellow or grey is permitted.

Neck-hackle: as completely black as possible on the surface due to the black underside of the hackle feathers; some golden-yellow edging on the upper-part of the hackle permitted.

Back and saddle-cushion: golden-yellow. 

Tail: black steering-feathers and coverts, outer row coverts with a narrow golden-yellow edge.

Primary-flights: inner-vane black, outer-vane white.

Secondary feathers: black inner-vane with a narrow golden-yellow edge around the feather tip; outer-vane golden-yellow with a narrow black edge against the shaft.

Front of neck, breast, body, thighs, belly and rear-end: deep golden-yellow
