Color and pattern of the male

Head: orange.

Neck: hackle gradually transitioning from orange to orange-yellow from top to bottom.

Shoulders and back: red.

Saddle: hackle light orange; a slightly deeper shade in the saddle-hackle than in the neck-hackle is permitted, but as much uniformity in color depth as possible in both feather groups is desirable.

Tail: steering-feathers black; sickles, by-sickles and coverts glossy green black.

Wings: bow black; wing-bar glossy green black.

Primary-flights: black with a narrow brown edge along the outer vane.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black, outer vane orange-brown, forming an orange-brown wing-triangle when the wing is closed.

Breast: glossy green black.

Belly, thighs and rear-part: black.

Down: creamy to light gray.

Faults

Slightly too dark neck- and saddle-hackle color.

Serious faults

Absence of the-wing triangle. White in the sickles, tail and wing feathers.

Head and neck-hackle: light golden brown with negligible shaft striping.

Breast, back, and wings: creamy yellow wheaten.

Tail: upper-coverts on both sides deep wheaten, faintly speckled with black; other tail feathers dull black or black with a narrow wheaten edge.

Primary- and secondary- flights: outer vane wheaten, inner vane wheaten-gray with brownish-black spots.

Belly, lower thighs andf rear-part: light creamy yellow wheaten.

Down: creamy to light gray.

Serious faults

Significantly uneven top color.

Faults

Somewhat uneven or slightly too dark or slightly too light ground color. Clearly visible hackle patttern. Light hackle color.
