Salmon German

This reddish salmon color is based on a special enhancement of the so-called "salmon red."

Color and pattern of the male

Head: creamy yellow

Neck- and saddle-hackle: creamy yellow, covering the brownish-red hue of the inner portion of the hackles; a rusty-red patch is required on either side of the neck-hackle.

Back, shoulders and shoulder arch: brownish-red with lighter shades of yellowish to cherry-red, copper-colored edged, lighter in older roosters.

Wing-bar: black, forming a greenish or bluish, moderately glossy band.

Primary-flights: black with a narrow white edge on the outer vane.

Secondary-flights: inner vane black; outer vane white. When the wing is closed, a white wing-triangle appears.

Beard, breast and thigh feathers: black.

Belly, leg and outer toe feathers: black to grayish black.

Down: white to light blue-gray.

Serious faults

Absence of red on the back and shoulder feathers. Extensive white on the beard, breast and thigh feathering.

Small white feather tips in the beard, breast, and thighs. Other than a white wing triangle.

Head and neck hackle: deep salmon-red, each feather with a creamy white shaft and edging.

Back, shoulders, and saddle: a uniform salmon-red, each feather with a creamy white shaft and edging.

Tail: steering-feathers salmon-red, some blue-gray is permitted; coverts similar to those of the back.

Primary-flights: outer vane salmon-colored; inner vane salmon-colored with gray-black interspersed.

Secondary-flights: outer vane salmon-colored; inner vane black-gray.

Beard, breast, and thigh feathers: light wheaten colored..

Belly, flanks, body, leg and outer toe feathers: slightly lighter than breast and thighs.

Down: white, blue-gray with a white shaft under the red feather parts.
