Color and pattern of the male

Head: orange.

Neck: hackle gradually transitioning from orange to orange-yellow from top to bottom.

Shoulders and back: red.

Saddle-hackle: light orange; a slightly deeper shade in the saddle-hackle than in the neck-hackle is permitted, but as much uniformity in color depth as possible in both feather groups is desirable.

Tail: steering-feathers, sickles, by- sickles, and tail-coverts bright blue.

Wings: bow bright blue; wing-bar bright blue.

Primary-flights: bright blue with a narrow brown edge along the outer vane.

Secondary-flights: inner vane bright blue; outer vane orangebrown, forming an orange-brown wing-triangle when the wing is closed.

Breast: bright blue.

Belly, thighs and rear-part: bright blue.

Down: creamy to light gray.

Serious faults

Absence of the wing-triangle. White in the sickles, tail, and wing feathers. Very uneven color of the blue feathers. Black color splashes and white spots in the blue feather areas.

Slightly too dark neck and saddle color. Slightly uneven color of the blue feathers.

Color and pattern of the female

Head and neck-hackle: light golden brown with negligible shaft stripe pattern.

Breast, back, and wings: creamy yellow wheaten.

Tail: upper steering- feathers on both sides deep wheaten, faintly speckled with bright blue; other tail feathers bright blue with a narrow wheaten edge.

Primary- and secondary- flights: outer vane wheaten, inner vane blue with brownish-bright blue spots.

Belly, lower thighs and rear-part: light creamy-yellow wheaten.

Down: creamy to light gray.

Serious faults

Very uneven upper color. Very uneven color of the blue feathers. Black color splashes and white patches in the blue feathers.
