Serious Faults

Too much red in the hackles. Absence of pattern in hackles, back, shoulders and wing-bows, both on the front and back of the feather, the outer lacing of which must be black. Shaft-color too light. Absence of brown in wing-flights. White in wing-flights and tail.

Faults

Too little pattern in hackles, back, shoulders and wing-bows. Brown on breast, flanks, thighs and belly. Too much black in hackles. Slightly grey in wing-flights. Slightly too light shaft-color.

Color and pattern female

Head: black.

Neck: each hackle-feather with black lacing, wide enough to make the hackle black and a dark golden-brown center with a wide middle-stripe, some brown in the upper part of the hackle allowed, brown shaft;  front of the neck similar to the breast.

Back, shoulders, wing-coverts, saddle, breast, flanks, thighs and belly: each feather dark-golden-brown sharpley glossy green-black double-laced, parallel to each other and the outline, the outer-lace is broader then the inner-lace; the larger feathers of the saddle and the lower breast also have a black stripe along the shaft, which is black at that location.

Primary-flights: inner-web black, outer-web dark golden-brown.

Secondary-flights:  inner-web black, outer-web dark golden-brown preferably with a narrow black lace, some coarse black marking in the dark golden-brown allowed.

Tail: main- feathers black except for the upper ones on both sides, which are irregularly dark golden-brown patterned; coverts double-laced with a black stripe along the shaft, which is black at that location..

Down: dark-grey

Note

An even dark golden-brown ground-color is highly valued. The presence of a complete triple lace is not considered a fault in older females.

Serious faults

Too heavy, irregular, not complete surrounding outer-lace. Lack of inner-lace. Too light dark golden-brown, dark reddish-brown or hard rusty-red. Too much brown in the neck. Strong peppering in dark golden-brown. Too light vein-color.

Faults

The above serious faults present to a lesser degree.
