Laced bluepartridge
Color and pattern male
Head: orange-red.
Neck: hackle warm orangey golden-yellow, each feather with a bright-blue shaft-stripe running almost parallel to the outline, ends in a point near the tip; front of the neck similar to the breast.
Back and saddle: back light carmine-red; hackle warm orangey golden-yellow, each feather with a bright-blue shaft-stripe running almost parallel to the outline, causing each feather to appear laced with warm orangey golden-yellow; a slightly deeper shade than in the neck-hackle is permitted, as much uniformity as possible is desirable.
Tail: steering-feathers bright-blue; sickles, by-sickles and coverts bright-blue, coverts laced with warm orangey golden-yellow.
Wings: bow bright-blue, shoulder-arch carmine-red, wing-bar bright-blue.
Primary-flights: bright-blue with reddish-brown along the feather-outline of the outer-vane.
Secondary-flights: bright-blue with reddish-brown lace along the feather-outline of the outer-vane, forming a red-brown wing-triangle when the wing is closed.
Breast: bright-blue, the majority of the feathers must have a yellowish-brown tip or lacing that extends no further than halfway.
Flanks and thighs: bright-blue, feathers mostly with a yellowish-brown tip or lacing that extends no further than halfway.
Belly and rear-part: bright-blue.
Down: greyish.
Serious faults
White in sickles and tail. Grey in wing-flights. Too light color in neck- and saddle-hackle or too faint shaft-stripe. Entirely blue breast. Rusty blue. Too dark blue feather-parts.
Faults
The above serious faults occur to a lesser extent. Wing-triangle too light and incomplete colored. Shaft-stripe too faint. Some unevenness and slightly too dark in tail.
Color and pattern female
Explanation: Laced bluepartridge differs in females from the so-called "Asiatic" lacing because the ground-color is abundantly present. Consequently, in the otherwise clearly patterned feathers, the blue irregularly serrated-pattern between the laces is very narrow. Furthermore, all feathers have a bright, glossy golden-yellow, not too narrow outer-lace without any blue. The outer-lace is clearly present on all feathers, in older females the lace is dull.
Head: yellow-brownish orange.
Neck: hackle orange-gold, each feather with a bright-blue shaft-stripe containing some orange-brown pattern, running parallel to the feather-outline, it ends in a point close to the tip; front of the neck similar to the breast.
Back and saddle: warm yellowish-brown ground-color, richley present; parallel to the feather-outline runs a blue to greyish tempered narrow serrated-pattern, showing more serration towards the shoulders; the golden-yellow outer-lace is entirely free of blue and possesses a strong sheen; the ground-color should not be too abundant as long as the feathers are clearly patterned; back- and saddle feathers do not need to have the serrated-pattern, a even peppering within the distinct outer-lace is also permitted, though serration is preferred.
Tail: steering-feathers bright-blue, the upper ones bright-blue with warm greyish-brown pattern; coverts warm greyish yellow-brown with serrated-pattern, parallel to each other and the feather-outline.
Wings: coverts warm greyish yellow-brown, the serrated-pattern running parallel to each other and the feather-outline.
Primary-flights: blue with greyish-brown lace on the outer-vane.
Secondary-flights: feathers inner-vane blue, outer-vane greyish-brown with blue serrated-pattern running approximately parallel to the feather-outline.
Breast: warm grayish yellow-brown, each feather with two or more distinct laces of warm greyish yellow-brown, separated by a very narrow bright-blue to greyish tempered serrated-pattern, parallel to each other and the feather-outline; the ground-color may break through the blue serrated-pattern, as long as the pattern remains distinct; the yellow-brown outer-lace is entirely free of blue and possesses a strong sheen, in older females the lace is dull.
Flanks, belly and rear-part: less sharply pattern that transitions towards the rear into solid greyish yellow-brown.
Thighs: less sharply patterned than the breast.
Down: greyish.
Serious faults
Excessive ground-color in the shaft-stripe pattern. White in tail and lacing. Grey in wing-flights. Serrated-pattern too broad and too straight where required. Lack of or too indistinctly patterned outer-lace. Transverse pattern. Rust on back and wings. Ground-color too red or straw yellow. Red or salmon color on breast.
Faults
Above serious faults present to a lesser extent. Some ground-color in the shaft-stripe pattern. Vein-pattern too broad and light on the breast. Clumped peppering on back, saddle and secondary wing-flights.
