Blue copper-neck

Color and pattern male 

Head: copper.

Neck- and saddlehackle: copper, each feather with a distinct blue shaft stripe that may not extend to the tip of the feather.

Back: copper.

Shoulders: red mahogany.

Other plumage: bright blue, as evenly as possible. The feathers on the front of the neck may show copper lacing extending to the underside of the neck feathers. Especially on the breast and wing-coverts, the feathers often show a fine, slightly darker feather edge (optical lacing).

Down: pale blue-gray

Note

The copper areas are a shade less warm than in black copperneck.

Faults

Insufficient or excessive shaft striping. Too pale or too red decorative feathering in the male. Breast lacing. Rusty, uneven or too dark blue ground color.
