Cuckoo gold-neck

Color and pattern male and female

Neck- and saddle-hackle: cuckoo with a warm golden-brown edging.

Back and shoulder: uniform warm golden-brown.

Upper breast: cuckoo pattern is fainter but with hardly any yellow tinge; less marked than the breast and belly.

Upper breast: lighter in shade and less pattern than the lower breast and belly, but with hardly any yellow tinge.

Serious faults

Far too dark or far too light color. Completely off-color feathers. Insufficient shaft striping in the male's neck- and saddle-hackle. Insufficient gold-colored edging in the female's neck-hackle. Straw-yellow color in the neck feathers in both male and female. Straw-yellow color on the male's back, shoulders and saddle-hackle.

Faults

Slightly too light or slightly too dark color. Some off-color feather areas. Distinct striping in the down feathers. Gold-colored edging in the upper breast. Completely solid-colored feathers.

Note

Generally, with the cuckoo pattern, the male is allowed to be slightly lighter than the female, as this color difference is normal in this pattern.
